POWER PLANNING TOOL
From IT load to facility power,
compare different assumptions.
Start with the IT load, total facility load or rack count you know. Adjust planning PUE and power factor to compare power requirements.
Calculation assumptions
Inputs are calculated on this screen and are not saved to the server.
PLANNING ESTIMATE
Indicative power requirements
IT 40 MW + non-IT 12 MW
- Active power including planning margin
- 57.2 MW
- Apparent power with power factor
- 60.211 MVA
- Racks at the entered per-rack load
- 2,000 Da
Redundant feeds, N+1 or 2N capacity and transformer utilization require additional design review. Backup power is not added to usable IT capacity.
Calculation summary text
Formulas and scope
- Facility MW = IT MW × planning PUE
- MW with margin = facility MW × (1 + margin ÷ 100)
- Apparent MVA = MW with margin ÷ power factor
- Racks = IT MW × 1,000 ÷ IT kW per rack (rounded down)
PUE is total facility energy divided by IT energy for the same period and scope. This tool applies an assumed PUE to load for preliminary planning; it does not establish annual PUE, peak demand, KEPCO application or contracted power, or available supply.
