Kakao Data Center in Ansan

JDC announced that it is conducting a planning study for a government-led AI data center in collaboration with Jeju Province and Jeju Technopark, and is reviewing the Second High-Tech Science and Technology Complex as a potential site. The organization plans to finalize the government budget and private-sector participation structure following the release of the results in November.

At a policy forum hosted by the Korea Internet Enterprise Association, industry opinions calling for clarification on the scope of tax credits for power, HVAC, and cooling systems in AI data centers, as well as for cloud business facilities and investments in the Seoul metropolitan area, were presented alongside the government’s responses.

Kakao has officially announced the completion of construction and held a completion ceremony for its first in-house data center in Ansan, which broke ground in 2021.

Kakao has begun construction on its first in-house data center and industry-academia collaboration facility at Hanyang University’s ERICA Campus.
